Came here with friends at around 6 and didn't have to wait at all! This is located inside the mall of japantown and the inside of the restaurant is not that big but it's still spacious enough. As for the food the we ordered the mentai cream sauce udon, Spicy Niku Bukkake udon, and the Niku Bukkake Udon. The mentai cream udon was really creamy and didn't feel to heavy as normal cream pastas do. However, near the end it does get a bit heavy however overall my favorite. I would recommend the spicy niku bukkake over the niku bukkake because i felt the niku bukkake was a bit bland so the spice really adds and enhances the flavor.

Came to try this place since it's a popular udon place in japantown, and it was quite good! There was no wait for two people on a monday evening. I got the regular beef sukiyaki nabeyaki udon which was $20.75. The portion is huge and the flavors are definitely there. It's on the sweeter side but the beef and udon was perfect. It is pricey since it's over $20 but still worth a try and i enjoyed the meal.

The salmon spinach cream udon doesn't miss! I'm normally not a fan of smoked salmon or creamy udon (over traditional broth) but since I tried it here, it's hard for me to want to get anything else. I've had their nabeyaki and sukiyaki udon but it just doesn't hit the spot as well as the salmon spinach cream udon for me. I saw reviews that warned how the mentai cream sauce udon was a bit heavy but I feel that this one isn't too bad. The only time I felt a bit overzealous was when I got the large portion because I was carb loading for a race. The chewy texture and creamy sauce complement each other very well. Their service is warm yet quick and joining the waitlist ahead of time is usually the move. The restaurant is decently sized, seating is spaced efficiently, and the tables clear fairly quickly. I usually don't need to on a random weekday but I always check just in case otherwise I end up wandering around the shopping mall (for up to an hour) to wait for a table.

I've been here a handful of times before, but it was my first time getting the shaken udon. It's nice because usually there's a long wait if you want to sit down and eat here, but the shaken udon is a quick takeout option. I got the spicy beef one, and it was soooo good. It doesn't have the most amount of substance but the noodles are thinner and chewy, and the sauce is also not too heavy and just right in terms of spices + oils.

Perhaps I'm not a huge fan of udon. Udon mugizo doesn't change my mind on how I feel about it, but it does a good job at keeping the status quo. Solid, good service, and typical looks of a Japanese noodle place, this restaurant doesn't blow minds. It's tame and offers nothing different but maybe that's a good thing. We can all do with consistency in our lives.

My friend who lives in San Jose recommended coming here while in SF Japantown. I joined the waitlist an hour in advance as I noticed the wait times are usually long. There wasn't much seating but I liked the design of the place. There was a mirror located in the back so it makes the restaurant look much bigger which is a good design tactic in my opinion. I ordered their popular which was the Mentai Creamy Sauce Udon. It was so creamy and you can really taste the umami and hints of spiciness. The udon was firm yet soft, and there were a lot of toppings. Overall, really solid Japanese restaurant but I wish the sauce was thicker as it was more liquid-y than I had expected. Additionally, the sauce was SUPER filling and rich so I couldn't really finish the dish (which can be seen as a good thing too!)

This is one of our go-to restaurants whenever we visit Japantown! There is usually always a bit of a wait regardless of when you go, but the waitlist usually moves faster than expected. The menu offers a wide variety of options, including both cold soup-less udon and warm soupy udon. I would definitely recommend ordering one of the cold udon dishes as it is quite refreshing on a hot summer day. the beef sukiyaki udon is also a solid option with a rich, umami broth although the meat can be a bit tough and overly chewy. If you're feeling decadent, I would go for the mentai cream sauce udon which is creamy and delicious! Overall, the udon texture is quite bouncy and satisfying. Most items offer both a small and large option - I find that the small option is already more than enough food. Definitely give this place a try if you're in the area!

Japan Town find. Inside the mall on the 2nd floor. Do yourself a favor and park underground, it's safer and not too expensive. Udon sounded nice after the Giants game, it started to get cool and windy so hot udon should have hit the spot. We were able to check in via Yelp which saved us some time (30-50 minutes). When we got there, we actually waited 5 minutes for them to seat us. The service was awesome, very attentive, water cups always full, the food came out super quick. The menu was extensive, had a ton of udon dishes (udon made fresh). I thought the udon soup base was good but not great. My Sukiyaki udon was good but I thought the sukiyaki soup needed more flavor. The tonkatsu udon was decent. Credit card okay. Friendly service, decent udon.

After the SF Cherry Blossom parade, my family wanted to try out Udon Mugizo. Typically, they are close-minded when it comes to trying out new foods and they can be really picky. We Yelp waitlisted which estimated ~1-1.5 hours until seating, but after 10-20 minutes our table was already ready! I ordered the vegetable udon for a hot day and my family ordered nabeyaki udon and tonkotsu udon. My vegetable udon came with a tomato miso soup, radish slices, and veggie meat. The soup was more like a sauce in that it was very flavorful. I accidentally poured more than I should have and it made the dish taste a little too strong for me, but still delicious. The radish slices added a nice crunch and refresher. The veggie meat wasn't anything special. The portion is a lot, especially for me, so I wish there were more veggies or something else to incorporate variety into the dish. Overall it was refreshing and flavorful. My parents also liked their dishes as well. One complaint is that the shrimp tempura was placed in the nabeyaki udon bowl and got soggy quickly. Service was prompt, efficient, and friendly, and despite having picky tastes, my family enjoyed their meals.
